Beijing will provide incentives for international professional exhibitions and newly launched high-quality exhibitions in the city, with the highest reward of 1 million yuan (US$137,843), according to the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau on Thursday.

The Chinese capital is stepping up efforts to build an international consumption center and is striving to attract specialized exhibitions with global influences. The Municipal Commerce Bureau will grant rewards of up to 1 million yuan for projects with an exhibition area of 10,000 square meters or more, where the rented exhibition area by overseas exhibitors accounts for 20% or more of the total exhibition area.

Support will also be given to newly launched exhibitions in Beijing. Exhibition projects newly held in Beijing this year with an exhibition area of 10,000 square meters or more will each receive 500,000 yuan. In addition, for every additional 10,000 square meters of exhibition area, the reward will increase by 300,000 yuan, with the maximum reward not exceeding 1 million yuan.

The city continues to support high-quality exhibitions to expand. For exhibition projects with a current scale of 10,000 square meters or more, an increase of every 5,000 square meters compared to the previous edition will earn a reward of 200,000 yuan, with the maximum reward not exceeding 800,000 yuan. For projects with a previous scale of 20,000 square meters or more, an increase of every 5,000 square meters in exhibition area compared to the previous edition will receive a reward of 300,000 yuan, with the maximum reward of no more than 600,000 yuan.
