In recent years, Shenzhen has witnessed the rapid growth of its low-altitude economy, making the dream of having everything delivered by drone a reality. As a representative of new productivity, the low-altitude economy is quietly transforming people's lifestyles and injecting new momentum into Shenzhen's sustained economic growth.
The scale of Shenzhen's low-altitude logistics industry has begun to take shape, covering a wide range of urban scenarios such as offices, scenic spots, campuses, and municipal parks.
"Previously, when visiting parks, we had to prepare in advance and carry a large bag of food and water. Now, with just a tap on my phone, everything I need can be airdropped to me — fast and convenient," said Ms. Lin, a resident who frequently visits Shenzhen Bay Park with her child. She explained that starting from the Coastal City business zone, drones can deliver goods to Shenzhen Bay Park, 2 kilometers away, in as fast as 10 minutes.
In Shuibei, the largest gold and jewelry trading center in China, dedicated drone routes have reduced a 30-minute car trip to just 12 minutes, ensuring the safe delivery of valuable items such as gold and jewelry to customers.
Beyond short-distance urban deliveries, Shenzhen has also achieved its first cross-sea low-altitude delivery. In April of this year, the first commercialized cross-sea low-altitude logistics route in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was launched in Shenzhen. The first cargo drone took off from Shekou Chiwan Port in Shenzhen and arrived Xiaolan, Zhongshan, covering a distance of 71.7 kilometers in 45 minutes, significantly improving logistics efficiency.
According to statistics from the Shenzhen Municipal Transportation Bureau, Shenzhen currently has 203 drone routes in operation and 121 drone take-off and landing points. Since 2023, cargo drones have flown over 780,000 sorties, making Shenzhen a national leader in this field.
In addition to leveraging the traditional advantages of its drone industry to rapidly develop low-altitude logistics, Shenzhen is now accelerating its expansion into other areas such as low-altitude transportation, comprehensive low-altitude services, and low-altitude finance. This comprehensive development aims to promote the all-encompassing growth of the low-altitude industry in Shenzhen.
