Disney and Pixar's animated film "Inside Out 2" remained victorious at the North American box office, taking in 57.4 million U.S. dollars during its third weekend in theaters, showed figures from the measurement firm Comscore on Sunday.
The sequel to 2015's "Inside Out" has grossed 469.3 million dollars in North America through Sunday for a global total of 1,014.8 million dollars. It's the first film to surpass the 1-billion-dollar milestone at the worldwide box office in 2024.
Paramount's sci-fi horror film "A Quiet Place: Day One" came in second with 53 million dollars on its opening weekend. The film, starring Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn, also generated 45.5 million dollars in international markets, including nearly 10 million dollars from the Chinese mainland.
Another newcomer, Warner Bros.' western epic "Horizon: An American Saga Chapter One" opened with 11 million dollars this weekend.
