SHENZHEN, July 2 (Xinhua) -- UBTECH, a Shenzhen-based humanoid robotics research and manufacturing company, and FAW-Volkswagen, one of China's earliest joint venture automakers, have announced that they will work together on developing highly intelligent and flexible production lines, as well as an unmanned car factory.
The collaboration aims to integrate humanoid robots into industrial operations at FAW-Volkswagen's factory in east China's Qingdao.
According to the cooperation agreement, FAW-Volkswagen will grant UBTECH access to its production lines at the Qingdao facility, where UBTECH's industrial humanoid robot, Walker S, will perform tasks such as bolt tightening, component assembly and handling of automobile parts.
UBTECH will dedicate resources to refining and optimizing its humanoid robots for industrial applications, supporting FAW-Volkswagen's efforts to enhance the intelligence and automation of its factories.
The industrial humanoid robot Walker S has already been deployed for on-site training at a factory of Chinese electric carmaker NIO and Dongfeng Liuzhou's motor assembly workshop. Enditem
