VIENTIANE, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Laos' National Assembly (NA)'s ninth legislature has closed its seventh ordinary session, with its closing ceremony witnessing the presence of Party Secretary General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Lao NA President Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
The session wrapped up on Tuesday, following the election of Vathana Dalaloy, former deputy governor of the Lao central bank, the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL), as the new governor of the BOL.
Former BOL Governor Bounleua Sinxayvoravong will take up a new post in Luang Prabang province, Lao national TV reported on Tuesday.
The meeting approved revised growth targets, amendments to 11 laws, two new draft laws and other documents of national importance.
The meeting also approved the government's reports on the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan, the state budget plan, and the monetary plan, as well as the two national agendas on addressing economic and financial difficulties and drug issues in the first six months of 2024, and targets set for the second half of the year.
