According to the 2012 Nature Publishing Index, Harvard University is first among the universities publishing scientific articles.

The index, computed by Nature Publishing Group, is as a supplement to the May 30 issue of "Nature," which ranked institutions, countries and territories based on the number of primary research articles they published in the "Nature" family of journals.

The list of the world's top 100 scientific institutions was still dominated by the United States and Europe. The authors from Harvard University published more nature-related content than any other institutions, followed by Stanford University and Germany's Max Planck Society.

Four institutions from China made the top 100 list, compared to three in 2011. The four are the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of Science and Technology of China, Tsinghua University and Peking University, respectively ranking 12th, 73th 89th, and 93th.

The NPI presents a corrected count, based on the percentage of academics affiliated to "Nature," to reflect the relative contributions of individual authors.

Only articles printed during 2012 were included. The online publications were not counted until published in a print edition.

The following are the top 10 worldwide institutions that published nature-related articles in 2012.

 Swiss Federal Institute of Technology(瑞士联邦理工学院)

Corrected count: 39.28

Articles: 72

Country: Switzerland
